No folks, we aren't New York, San Francisco, or L.A., but right here in Northeast Ohio are thousands of gay men who have been ex---Sucking posed to the virus that causes AIDS. Between 5 and 10 percent of those infected will go on to develop full blown AIDS. However, every single one of those infected can pass the virus on to others through certain sexual practices. As it turns out, it's not just how much sex
you have, but more importantly, it's the way you have sex that determines just how much of a threat AIDS is to you.
The best medical evidence indicates that AIDS is passed through body fluids 1semen, urine, feces, blood, and possibly saliva) from person to person during traditional gay sex. Therefore, any sex is dangerous when it includes the exchange of those body fluids. That's called Unsafe Sex. Safe Sex, on the other hand, is any activity that does not include that exchange of body fluids. You can have as much Safe Sex as you want with little or no risk.
So what's really Unsafe? If you choose to engage in the following activities,

If you are dying to get AIDS, go ahead and participate in the above activities. If you care at all about your health and the health of those around you, Play Safe Sex.
Safe Sex sounds boring, you say? If it does, you ain't doing it right! Here are some explicit ideas:
--Showering together can be a real turn-on.
--Massage (try it after the shower). Use oils and don't forget any parts. --Stroking, hugging, cuddling feels good for both people,

Going Beyond Charmin: Anal Pleasure
BY BUCK HARRIS
Most gay and bisexual men do not include rectal stimulation in their early sexual experiences. We are, if you will excuse the expression reared in a society that teaches us that the only thing that one should do down there is touch it with Charmin.
Somewhere along the jour-
ney of sexual unfolding, we begin to explore body parts other than cock and balls for erotic enjoyment. Eventually most of us discover the pleasure potential of the ass, both inside and out. Some find out via masturbation, others are guided by more experienced sexual partners.
The bottom line is that rectal sex can be orgasmic. There are physiological reasons that explain this sensation: For one, the opening of the anus and the surrounding area is loaded with nerve endings that rise close to the surface during sexual arousal. This response also occurs in the glans of the penis, the scrotal sac, the breast area, and the lips.
There is little doubt that surface stimulation to the ass can be intensely pleasurable. Rimming (analingus) can drive both the giver and the receiver into a frenzy. Often tongue stimulation is the warm-up for anal penetration. Saliva may serve as a lubricant. Thrusting the tongue into the asshole can help to relax the sphincter muscle, allowing for easier insertion.
Approximately 79% of gay men engage in rectal intercourse. Most do not categorize themselves as top or bottom men, claiming that they like to be the recipient and the inserter, depending on their mood and/or partner.
The thrusting of the penis during anal intercourse or the thrusting of an object such as a dildo during anal masturbation stimulates the prostate gland. Any physician knows that the prostate is a gland that loves massage. If conditions are right, the "outcum" can be a very intense orgasm with powerful ejaculation. During orgasm the anal sphincter muscle contracts several times and heightens the sensation of the orgasm.
For the inserter, the thrusting motion together with the pressure put upon the shaft and glans of the penis can stimulate orgasm. With rectal intercourse, the feeling that you and your partner have been bonded together, or become one, can also intensify pleasure: Mental orgasms are powerful, too.
Okay, so we all agree that rectal stimulation can be fun. Physiologically, it makes sense. But to enjoy the pleasures of this sexual behavior, you need to know a few things.
There are now at least 27 diseases that can be transmitted sexually. Sexually active gay men (outside of those in strictly monogamous relationships) are at greatest risk for contracting all of them. In the past most were easily treatable. HTLVIII the virus that causes AIDS, is a deadly one for which there is presently no treatment.
or sucking tits, shoulders, neck, ears, cheeks of the ass, balls, and toes (not necessarily in that order!). --Sucking: it's safe only if you use a rubber or if there's no cumming into the mouth. Rubbers can be a turn-on, but if you don't like them, make sure you pull out of the mouth before cumming. Pre-cum may have the dangerous virus in it, so rubbers are still the best idea.
--Fucking and being fucked with a condom: as long as you are careful not to rip the rubber and you don't reuse them, they are great. --Light S & M activities (without bruising or bleeding).
--Sex toys: see the Body Language ad in the Chronicle or ask them about this one. Just remember not to share toys that might get contaminated with body fluids, clean them thoroughly before exchanging them with your partner.
--Costume posing and fantasies: combine Safe Sex with uniforms (cop, jock, soldier, etc.) and let your imagination go unrestrained!
Starting to get the message? Avoiding AIDS doesn't page 13, col. 3
The virus is transmitted through blood products. Semen contains blood products. Regardless of the size of your partner's penis or how gentle he may be, it is almost impossible to avoid at least minor tearing of the lining of the rectal wall during rectal intercourse. If your partner is infected, especially with HTLV-III, You may expect to become infected as well.
Pulling out before ejaculation may help, but the wisest thing to do is to use a rubber. Oh, I know, "They're a drag to use." If you think rubbers are a drag try AIDS. Condoms can be kinky. Applying one on your partner's penis can be a rewarding experience.
Remember not to use spit. (In the old days, I used to say, "If you can't use spit, it isn't love.") And instead of using petroleum-based lubricants (like Vaseline), use lubricants especially designed for rectal intercourse. Some of these contain non-oxyl 9, a chemical that kills HTLV-III. K-Y Jelly is also suitable.
